To be considered for admission to the MMI major, applicants must have at least a 2.5 GPA or higher in the following courses:
- Introductory Chemistry (Chem. 103-104 or Chem. 109)
- First semester of organic chemistry (Chem. 343)
- First semester of introductory biology (Zoo 151 or Biocore 301)
Transfer students must meet the same requirements in equivalent courses. L&S transfer office recommendations will be used for purposes of determining equivalent courses.
It is expected that students will apply for admission after they have completed the above courses. Please note that fulfilling these course requirements does not guarantee admission to the major. Currently, there is no submission deadline for applications to the program.

- To ensure quality in the major, the number of admissions may vary from year to year as resources permit.
- Some of the laboratory courses in the major involve the use of animals, animal organs or animal based products. Procedures for using animals have been thoroughly reviewed and approved by the Universitys Animal Care Committee, which insures the proper and humane use and care of animals in both research and teaching.
