MM&I Club 1999 Summary of Meetings and Events

The spring semester brought in several interesting and relevant speakers. Two graduate students came and talked to us about MM&I masters programs on April 6. On April 13, Janice Waiseman, director of medical school admissions, talked to us about the medical school application process and what the UW medical school looks for in its applicants. An Americorps representative talked to us on April 20 about the very worthwhile Americorps program. This program allows graduates to work with the underpriviledged in a variety of settings.

Tutor and class sign-up sheets were also continued and will hopefully be continued next year as well. They are found outside of room 408 SMI on the MM&I club bulletin board.

On Sunday, April 18th, the club participated in the MS walk to raise money for the muscular sclerosis foundation. We also gave the highest contribution to the SHINE benefit concert for Camp Heartland, which took place in March at the Memorial Union.

The club also held two social meetings at State Street Brats. There will be another social at Becky Keim’s house on May 6 at around 7 pm (see above if interested or email Becky). All students, staff, and faculty are invited to this event to celebrate the end of another successful academic year.

Thanks to all for a great and successful year. I hope everyone’s finals are just as successful.

Your ‘98-’99 Secretary,
Jason Paltzer
