MMI Undergraduate Club Meeting Minutes, Wednesday, October 3, 2006
Joanne Weber, advisor for the major:
- Many resources available to MMI majors. Just ask!
- See website for lists of people and programs.
- Other programs available- i.e., accelerated nursing programs at other UW System schools.
- Employment after graduation: many companies seek out MMI graduates (i.e., Aerotek).
- Graduate school and health professions careers are great resources- go and ask questions and meet people!
- Resume and personal statement writing workshops are also great.
- Check the bulletin board near Joanne’s office (on the second floor of MSC).
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Wausau Whys & Wow’s science expo (sponsored by UW Alumni Association) needs volunteers to man booths: October 27 from 9-3 pm.
- Maybe volunteering at hospital November 18 or another day? Thursdays work best for most people present.
- Ronald McDonald house dinner: December 6th at 5pm, making a meal for ~45 people (need 10 volunteers).
- NSCS Charity Ball (in March) needs people to help out- ask Allie for more info.
Dues:
- $15/whole year or $10/semester.
- Please pay to Danielle or any other officer.
- Checks to MMI Undergraduate Club, or cash.
Academic Opportunities:
- WARM program- for WI residents interested in rural medicine. See med school website (www.med.wisc.edu)
- Well Child Clinic: Mondays at Lincoln School (off South Park St) provides care for lower income students and families. Spanish speakers needed. Email Sean Spencer if interested: spspencer@wisc.edu
